Insanity!

Are you insane?!?!

Well I guess that depends upon what you’re doing.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I was talking to someone the other day and they told me how things were so difficult that things never got any better.

Yaddie yaddie yaddie yaddie.

After they were done talking, I asked them a simple question.  “Are you doing anything differently that what you’ve been doing the past year?”

Of course the answer was no.

So let me ask another question.

How do you expect things to change if you don’t change them?

After a slight pause, the simple answer was, “good point.”

It’s like the interviewer who asked 3 friends, “If you had an elephant, where would you hide it?”

The first friend said, “In a room.”

The second friend said, “In a tunnel.”

The third friend said, “Why are we hiding an elephant?”

elephant hiding

Good point.

Word of caution, please don’t confuse working on accomplishing something when there seems to be no hope at all with doing the same thing over and over again and not getting results.

Sometimes you may get discouraged when things don’t work out the way you expect them too.

The key is to continue exploring different options until you find something that does work.

It took Thomas Edison 10,000 tests before he discovered the right combination for the light bulb.  When asked how he could stand so many failures, his response was that he didn’t have any.  He was successful at finding 9,999 ways of not making a light bulb.

What have you been successful lately?

What are some things that you want to be better or to change in your life?

Once you’ve figured that out, then ask yourself what you can do DIFFERENTLY to get those results that you want.

And then you have to do the final step – as Nike so aptly put it – Just Do It.

That’s right.

Take Action and do things differently in order to get the results you desire… otherwise, you’ll just go insane.

Think about it.

P.S.  Here are some quotes to help you along your way:

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by peo

ple who have kept on trying when there seems to be no hope at all.  – Dale Carnegie

You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.

“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though chequered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory or defeat.”  — Theodore Roosevelt.
