Podcasting Pro or No?

Are you a podcaster?  Are you thinking about podcasting?  Well if you’re considering podcasting, you can go pro or you can start as an amateur.  Whatever you decide, it could be an adventure!

To start the adventure, today’s technology offers you a slew of different podcasting options.  For strictly audio podcasting, you can simply use the microphone on your laptop.  Of course the audio quality might not be as good as you’d like, so I’d recommend you get a microphone that can plug into your laptop.  Many people are using their cell phones for podcasting today though, so I’d recommend a microphone that you can use on both your phone and your laptop.  One of the best one’s out there is the iRig Mic Lav.   It’s a compact lavaliere that is portable and functional.  It easily plugs right into your laptop or phone and records professional sounding audio.  You can get it at Amazon for only $49.99 for a limited time only:

If you’re planning on doing a video podcast, once again, you have many options.  Most phones today are equipped with high quality cameras that would work great.  If you’re planning on using your laptop though, most built-in cameras are low quality.  Sure, they’re good enough for a Skype or Hangout session and if you’re looking for a professional looking podcast, you may want an upgrade.  One of the best cameras out there created for higher quality video recording on laptops is the Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam.  This little addition to your laptop allows you much better video quality than the standard laptop webcam.  You can get it now on Amazon for only $50!

The C920 is followed by the C930 and the BRIO.   Should you get either one of those?  Well, it depends!  The C930 allows you to record in 60 fps which is awesome.  Of course, it’s not something you really need unless you’re planning on doing  a lot of editing.  The BRIO allows you to record in 4K quality.  Again, awesome!  Although again, if you don’t need that level of quality and you’re just looking for a good enough (pretty good really) soluti

on, then all you need is the C920.  I don’t recommend you upgrade unless you’re planning on really getting serious and going full out on podcasting.

So there you have it.  You can use your phone or your laptop and with a few small additions, it will help you seem a little more pro than no.
